Description

This concludes my imaging of the 3 galaxies in the Leo Triplet.

The night started clear with a 1st quarter Moon. I imaged from about 8:30PM until 1AM when clouds rolled in. I was able to take 110 decent 2 minute images.

M65 is a really nice spiral galaxy in the constellation Leo. It is part of the famous Leo Triplet of Galaxies. It was discovered by Charles Messier in 1780. The ratio of old stars to new stars is high indicating that there is little new star formation going on.
